Plaque Psoriasis

Home   ›   Resources   ›   Conditions Explained   ›   Plaque Psoriasis

Plaque psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin condition and the most common form of the disease. About 80% of people with psoriasis have plaque psoriasis. It occurs when the body rapidly overproduces skin cells, which then build up on the surface to form plaques, or raised patches of thick, dry, flaky skin that are inflamed, itchy, and painful. These plaques are often found on the scalp, elbows, knees, hands, feet, and lower back.
