Privigen contains immunoglobulin G (IgG), the main type of antibody made by the immune system. Privigen helps protect the health of people with PI by supplying their immune systems with IgG antibodies to help prevent infections. Privigen can also help improve motor function in adults with CIDP. For people 15 years and older with chronic ITP, Privigen can raise platelet counts to help prevent bleeding.
To treat PI, CIPD, and ITP a Privigen IVIg infusion is administered intravenously once every 3 to 4 weeks. The dose depends on age and body weight.
